  This SEM micrograph shows hierarchical hybrid organic@metal-oxide nanowires that have been obtained by the combination of two synthetic methodologies: physical vapor deposition and remote plasma assisted deposition. The nanowires are deposited using metal organic molecules as precursors in the presence of reactive plasmas. The hybrid materials present multiple advantages over single nanostructures combining the different properties of several materials into one. These materials are promising candidates for applications in photonics, photovoltaic, photocatalysis, microelectronic and nanosensoring. Under certain deposition conditions, these types of materials shocked us with a peculiar microstructure as shown in this micrograph. The nanowires resemble the wings of angels flying over those fallen in battle. We have spent centuries without knowing where heaven and hell are. Maybe it is true that they are everywhere, but we could not see them because they are in the nanoscale!
